WWE games aren't marketed as just being wrestling games these days, they need to have a hook to reel the customers in. The way 2K do this is by centering their games around a featured Showcase Mode. 2K14 had The Streak, 2K15 had a few shorter versions including Triple H vs. Shawn Michaels, and 2K16 had a Stone Cold Steve Austin mode. What about 2K17? 2K's decision to move away from a cluster of shorter storylines and back to one feature length film of sorts has been one of the best moves they've made in recent times. This was showcased, pardon the pun, during 2K16's Austin mode as quite literally every single period of the Texas Rattlesnake's career was covered - right the way from his WCW days, through ECW and to his main event days as a part of WWE. You would have to believe that it's a given that WWE and 2K will be working on a similar mode for this year's release. Although, there's a chance they could pick a broader area - such as WCW - that us WWE fans have been wanting to play for some time, and run us through that.
