Will you buy WWE 2K22 on day one?

Perhaps you've already given into the hype and pre-ordered the game weeks ago, or you've decided to wait it out and see what the first run of reviews will be like. That's fair, because loyal fans were burned badly by the glitch-addled abomination that was 2K20, and there could be no coming back for some.

The good news is that 2K22 deserves a chance. 2K realise that they f*cked up big time in late-2019, and they're eager to win back your affections by debuting on PS5/Xbox Series X with a bang. This is very-much last chance saloon for a development house that could maybe even lose the WWE license if they're not careful.

That's how bad the last game was.

Major strides forward were always going to be the bare minimum required from 2K22. People want to see vast improvements to graphics, gameplay, controls and featured modes. Did 2K deliver that with their latest stab at digital WWE glory, or is this yet another trap set by clever marketing?

Here's everything you need to know before buying the thing.

10. There’s A Ton Of Released Wrestlers On-Disc

One has to feel for 2K's decision-makers here.

They're at the mercy of Vince McMahon's whims, and that must've made piecing together a nailed-down roster for 2K22 rather challenging. Get this: 2K's latest has a whopping 34 characters on-disc who are no longer with the company. That must be some sort of record.

2K couldn't do much about it, to be fair. Workers like Cesaro, Toni Storm, Jeff Hardy and more all left WWE fairly recently - all of them would've been finalised and shipped as part of the 2K22 package. The devs have to decide on a cut off point for additions/deletions to the line up, and that isn't helped by McMahon going a bit daft with releases.

So, if you were looking forward to swinging fools as Cesaro or wrecking shop with Braun Strowman, then relax. Those lads are still included as part of the roster. This could be one of the most outdated 2K rosters ever, but that's not their doing.
