Xbox Series X RPG Avowed Is An Elder Scrolls Challenger
Obsidian is on a roll.
Not content with announcing only two games at the Xbox Series X showcase, Obsidian also revealed their next major RPG, a dark fantasy RPG called Avowed.
The first-person game looks to follow in the footsteps of The Outer Worlds in terms of its AAA role-playing design, only with a radically different setting. Swapping out the space age focus of that game, the new project is taking players back to realm of magic and monsters. It's set in the same world as their Pillars of Eternity series.
Considering The Outer Worlds was viewed as Obsidian challenging Bethesda's Fallout, this new effort has already drawn comparisons to The Elder Scrolls.
Of course, there will be plenty to differentiate the two titles, but Obsidian is clearly attempting to prove they're one of the biggest names in the blockbuster RPG space.
