10 Huge Nickelback Anthems You Won't Admit You Love

There's a Nickelback song for everyone. Honestly...

By Jamie Kennedy /

Over the years, Nickelback have slowly but surely replaced Creed as the most-hated grunge-lite band around. Hell, they've even eclipsed Limp Bizkit as a band folks just love to hate on. That may sound like a controversial, sweeping generalisation, but it's largely true - just ask most of your friends if they're Nickelback fans, and you'll be met with either a smug look, or being forced to listen to them launch into a tirade about how much Chad Kroeger and company suck. Unfortunately for almost everyone who claims otherwise, Nickelback simply cannot be given the, 'they suck' treatment. Again, controversial, right? Not quite - all those people who have lambasted the band over the years are the very same who say, 'Oh man, I love this song!', when one of their big hits comes on the radio, or just happens to be included on their iTunes shuffle playlist. Running successful tour after successful tour, every album the band release is almost guaranteed to sell by the truckload. Gone are the days when only fans of rock music knew who Nickelback were, they're now a household name, and even grandparents have likely been caught singing along to some of their singles. Okay, so 'How You Remind Me' is probably the most overplayed rock song this side of 'Sweet Child O' Mine', but try to deny the reaction in a club when 'Burn It Down' comes on, or those furtive few months before 'Rockstar' was a single where everyone actually loved the song. Nickelback write fantastic, foot-stomping hard rock tunes, but what are the biggest ones responsible for causing people to lie about liking them?
