10 Huge Rock & Metal Bands Glastonbury Couldn't Handle

You think Metallica was controversial? You ain't seen nothing yet.

They thought Metallica were too heavy and out of place for the festival, but as many hard rock and metal fan knows, there's a wealth of stadium-sized bands doing the rounds that would rock the boat even more. Mastodon anyone? This year's line-up is headlined by The Who, Kanye West and - until they had to pull out because of Dave Grohl's broken leg - Foo Fighters, were set to play the Somerset gig. However, much to the disappointment of headbangers around the world, the festival organisers decided not to carry on with the thrashing trend that worked so well last year and confirmed that Florence and the Machine will replace the US rockers on top of the bill. After Lars Ulrich and co blew away the naysayers of devil horns and face-melting guitar solos at last year's festival, music lovers called out for more of the same, but alas they'll have to put up with a predictable Kanye West tribute cover of Everlong rather than an extended version of AC/DC's Thunderstruck. Rock on! So here's a rundown of an array of rock beasts and metal masters who's mosh pit conducting and ear-piercing roars would be too much for the Glastonbury faithful...
