10 Songs That End On Really Depressing Notes
"Come to think about, his name was, it was you. Damn!"
Music is simply a wonderful thing, and can bring people together from all walks of life. Though each of the hundreds of genres and sub genres have their own following of fans, there are moments in music that can rise above all of that, and become something that anyone can listen to.
It can tap into the entire range of human emotion, and while some of the biggest and best songs can put a smile on anyone's face, sometimes what we need is to listen to a depressing song and have a good cry.
Whether you're looking for someone who can relate to you, has been through what you're going through, and can articulate it in the form of a song, or even if you're simply looking for some perspective, there is no shortage of music that will leave you emotional and reaching for the tissues.
These songs come from every corner of the industry. Incredible singers, rappers, and even heavy metal giants have found ways of tapping into your deepest emotions, able to leave you utterly depressed and devastated by the end of a track.
10. The Talisman - Iron Maiden
Over the years, Iron Maiden have earned and solidified their reputation as one of the greatest bands in the history of heavy metal. They are completely unique, in that no other group of people could pull off as many seven or eight minute plus epics as they have since 1980.
In 2015, on their long awaited album, The Final Frontier, the band demonstrated their ability to tell incredible, albeit depressing stories. The Talisman follows a ship getting lost out at sea, and the struggles and emotions that come with it.
The sailors, after going through an awful storm, find themselves lost with limited food and drink. At one point, they go for 20 days without a meal, and ten without fresh water. It is a horrible ordeal to go through, but eventually they spot land and sail toward it and the safety it would bring.
It is only the final words of the last verse that stop the listener feeling happy for the rescued souls. "This sickness I am dying from, never wanted it to end this way." After surviving the storm and the weeks lost at sea, the sailor returns to land only to die of a sickness anyway.
