In Prosecution of Taylor Swift: 4 Reasons She's Not "The Best"

By Mike Reyes /

So there's this piece on BuzzFeed this morning called, "In Defense of Taylor Swift". In it is a pretty fluffy justification on how their staff writer believes that, "...she's actually the best". Why's she the best? Basically because she's sold 22 million albums, dates like a normal person, writes songs about breakups like a normal person, her "surprise" at winning awards is refreshing from cockiness, and OF COURSE she's going to date famous people, because she's totally one of them! Now I like BuzzFeed. I've read stories of theirs before, and I generally think they're pretty good in the sense that they like to break their copy up with generally good photos. Their writing is a little light, but this is coming from a guy who's used to writing 10 slides of at least three paragraphs. So good people of BuzzFeed, I'm not taking you or your writer who supported Taylor Swift to task here. What I am doing is giving us "haters" an articulate voice as to why we just can't get on board with the T-Swizzle express. We're not trying to be mean, but let's face it, we might never ever ever be Taylor Swift fans, because we knew she was trouble when she walked in with those teardrops on her guitar. (I hope you all appreciate that bit right there, as it was painful to get through.) We're not here to break down an obviously successful young woman, we're merely here to say why her current image could use a bit of an overhaul, and why the act she has now should stay on the Disney Channel where it belongs. It's go time, so come at me, Swifties, and hear my four points to why Country's reigning sweetheart isn't "the best"...but she could be.
