Crowdsourcing has come a big way since it first appeared on the internet. It has become a serious method of both paying for and promoting a business, and has launched some seriously successful products onto the market. But not only products, but also award winning albums and films, including those that have been nominated for Grammys and a film that even won an Academy Award €“ more on that later in this list. The two main sites for crowdsourcing are Kickstarter and Indiegogo. Both are slightly different; Kickstarter only allows "proper" projects but will only pay out if you meet the target funding €“ whereas Indiegogo has the option for the project to claim any funds submitted but also allows for charity cases... and we don't just mean building schools in Africa. Nope. We're talking about the several requests to fund people's Xbox One consoles that are on the site right now. This article will concentrate on the sometimes surprising things that have actually been funded. Some of those in this list are just downright cool, others are a little controversial and a couple are really quite surprising.
