The Hunger Games takes top spot as fans of the Potter series are blaming e-readers such as Kindle which perhaps were not as readily available during their heroes peak.

Harry Potter, the annoying bespectacled wizard in training who has captured the imaginations of kids and adults the world over has been ousted from his throne atop Amazon's best sellers list, according to the site's Editorial Director Sara Nelson. So who's kicked old four eyes off the top spot? Perhaps unsurprisingly it's Suzanne Collins' mammoth hit series The Hunger Games which impressively outsells JK Rowling's work in hardback and e-book editions despite only consisting of three novels as opposed to Potter's seven. Speaking to the Wallstreet Journal, Nelson said:
"Interestingly, this series is only three books versus Harry Potter's seven, and to achieve this result in just four years is a great testament to both the popularity of the work and, we think, the growth in reading digitally during that time."
Fans of the Potter series are blaming e-readers such as Kindle which perhaps were not as readily available during their heroes peak. Be that as it may it is also a testament to the popularity of Collin's Lord of the Flies/Battle Royale lite as well as the increases interest I reading now that people no longer have to actually carry a book around with them. Just how long The Hunger Games will remain at the top has yet to be seen. How about you? Have you bought your copy yet? Let us know how you feel about this and whether you feel this is a sign that Harry Potter has had his day.
