Felix Baumgartner is finally able to skydive from space, and you can watch the stream of the jump below. The initial planned jump was called off thanks to bad weather (as were two subsequent attempts), but it is going ahead this evening and Baumgartner will leap out of a balloon at more than 120,000ft, in his quest to become the first human to break the sound barrier unaided by a vehicle. The 43-year-old daredevil who has been training for five years began his ascent shortly after 4.30pm UK time, ahead of the jump, which will see him accelerate beyond 690mph inside 40 seconds, before opening a parachute to land in the desert near Roswell, New Mexico. The entire jump will take about 15 to 20 minutes, with five minutes in freefall and then between 10 and 15 under parachute. Baumgartner faces the threat of spinning out of control, which would lead to G forces that could make him lose consciousness, as well as the threat of his blood boiling from exposure to vacuum.
