Fear lives in the streets at HHN28.

This year's Halloween Horror Nights event has been applauded by many as one of the best that Universal have ever created. There are a record-breaking 10 houses, 5 scare zones and a Cyberpunk themed show by the dance group Academy of Villains.

I was lucky enough to be able to head to the event for two scare filled nights and got to experience all the fun of HHN28 - once as part of an RIP tour and the other completely alone.

As this year's event is so big, I've split up my thought on the event into two. Here I will cover scare zones plus my thoughts on Academy of Villains: Cyberpunk.

The Harvest

What Culture

The Harvest is located in Plaza of the Stars. Over the past couple of years it has been a showcase for the mazes, but HHN28 saw a slight twist on this premise.

There were some displays which gave you a photo op for the IP houses, such as a street sign for Haddonfield and twisted looking pumpkin representing Trick r Treat. You aren't alone in this Universal created "barn". Lurking in the Harvest were strange looking creatures made from hay and straw, along with a number of pumpkin headed creatures.

We walked through this area on our way to into the event, but during the day you couldn't really get the full impact of the scare zone. In the dark, the hay creatures could hide amongst props and were giving out a fright to unsuspecting guests who were trying to get that perfect instagrammable shot of the flickering tv from Poltergeist.

The large props made for perfect hiding spots for the hay creatures. I saw one become almost invisible behind the Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers stand as they waited for a guest to become engrossed in photographing it. The huge pumpkins would pose for photos with creepy outstretched arms.

For most people The Harvest will give them their first taste of what's in store for them at HHN28, and I think it was a nice representative of what's to come.
