There's a new prodigy at the sprinter's block every year ready to take up the talismanic mantle and become the next Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo of the sport.

Some of these upcoming stars are bred in the academies of their own club such as Ansu Fati at Barcelona and Phil Foden in Manchester City, while some are carefully plucked from overseas, like Real Madrid's Vinicius Junior and Bayern Munich's Alphonso Davies.

However, this is just the tip of the iceberg as there are a whole host of young guns taking Europe by storm. So let's delve through 7 of the best attacking talents in the continent this season

Considered to be an expensive flop after struggling to assert himself in his debut season with Inter Milan last year, Lautaro Martinez has found his footing under the tutelage of manager Antonio Conte.

He's finally living up to the potential that convinced the Nerazzurris to make an outlay of €25 million in his pursuit, and has also forged a fearsome strike partnership with summer arrival Romelu Lukaku.

The Argentine has struck 12 times in the Serie A, twice as many times as he accrued in the whole of last campaign and in six fewer games. He was also the star of Inter's Champions League campaign with five goals in the group stage, although that wasn't enough to secure a place in the last 16.

Martinez's only issue is his disciplinary record, as he's been booked seven times in the league before being sent off on matchday 21. This has led him to miss three games overall due to suspension, but may miss more if he continues to pick up cards like this.
