What a time to be a boxing fan. The sport has come on leaps and bounds over recent years and has reclaimed its slot in the mainstream consciousness. Where it should be. Global interest and intrigue in the fights of today are reaching levels only seen in the classic days of Messrs Ali, Tyson, and the like. The fighters of today know how to market themselves as such to make them just as big, or arguably bigger than the stars of yesteryear. This has been showcased to a tee in the most recent and perhaps the most talked about rivalry in the modern day history of the sport. Next weekend we'll be treated to the Mayweather vs Pacquiao bout which has been in the making for so many years now. It should be one hell of a fight and will finally show to us who the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world is at the moment.
