Aiden McGeady looks set to stay with Everton after Roberto Martinez silenced talk about the Irish winger leaving Goodison Park this summer. The 29-year-old has been linked with a move away from Merseyside after a hit-and-miss campaign, while the Toffees can boast Kevin Mirallas, Aaron Lennon, and now Gerard Deulofeu on the wings, following the latter's permanent move after impressing on loan during 2013/14. Sunderland are said to have held a long-standing interest in the midfielder since his days at Celtic, while the Scottish champions are also said to be keen on snapping him up this summer, though Martinez has rubbished the speculation. He told the Liverpool Echo: €œWith Aiden there is nothing. I wouldn't like to go into every rumour and justify every rumour that is in the media, otherwise we would never finish. €œAiden McGeady is an exceptional footballer and he has a talent that is very important for our squad. All we need now is to find a solution to that niggling hamstring problem that he has been carrying and I hope that Aiden can enjoy his football. When he does do that then he is quite unique. €œThere has not been a conversation with another club about a possible transfer. What I am looking for is for him to be fully fit.€ With Jeremain Lens all set to sign for Sunderland, the need for another winger is not the biggest priority, though a lot could hinge on the Ricky Alvarez and Adam Johnson situations. For now though, it looks as though McGeady can be crossed off the list, with Everton showing no signs of being ready to part with him.
