Carling Cup Renamed 'Capital One Cup' For 2012/13 season
The Carling Cup has been renamed the ‘Capital One Cup’ for the 2012/13 season.
We are very excited about getting behind the cup.Since its inception in 1960 the League Cup has been known as The Milk Cup, The Littlewoods Cup, The Rumblelows Cup and The Coca Cola Cup, amongst others. The first team to win the cup were Aston Villa. Liverpool became the holders this year after defeating Cardiff on penalties, winning the cup for a record eighth time though that trophy victory was still not enough for manager Kenny Dalglish to keep his job. He has been replaced by Swansea manager Brendan Rodgers this week.
