Goal.com is reporting that Manchester United€™s new signing Kagawa has rejected the iconic No.7 at Old Trafford. The 23-year-old former Borussia Dortmund player completed his Manchester move on Friday after passing his medical. Speculation and excitement has been building with United fans keen to see their new man in action and legions of fans had been asking the club what shirt number he would wear after it was unclear whether he would become the No.7 at the club with Michael Owen being released. Even with the No.7 shirt free, Kagawa has told the media that he will not accept the number if offered:
"I've just joined the team and haven't accomplished anything yet, I want to make a name for myself on my own terms. I don't know which numbers are free, I gave them my requests, but they aren't as important a number No. 7."
Kagawa seems confident in making his own impact and it looks like he doesn€™t want to be compared to the likes of George Best, David Beckham and Cristiano Ronaldo, icons of one of the most famous shirts in football. It is still unclear what number the new signing will wear at the club, but as long as Manchester United fans see €˜Kagawa€™ on the score sheet the only number that the fans will be concerned about is how many goals he scores.
