Spurs Transfer News: Bayern Munich Want Gareth Bale?

By Joseph Dempsey /

Sun. The ex-Barcelona boss, who takes charge of the newly crowned German champions in the summer, is prepared to go head-to-head with his former club's old rivals Real Madrid for the Welshman's signature. The reigning Spanish champions are big admirers of the winger, but so too is Guardiola, who has been tracking the player for over a year now. Bale's performances for Tottenham this season have earned him many admirers, as the 23-year old continues to mature into a world class player. His displays have helped establish himself as one of Europe's most sought after players, to the point that his club slapped a mammoth £70 million price-tag on his head last month. Spurs are obviously unwilling to sell their prized asset, but they will have to clinch Champions League qualification either this season or next if they are to prevent the continent's biggest hitters from turning his head with the lure of European football. Bale has scored 22 goals for Spurs this season, and is set to return from injury against Manchester City tomorrow. Along with Juan Mata, Michael Carrick, Eden Hazard, Luis Suarez and Robin van Persie, Bale has been nominated for the Premier League's Player of the Year Award.
