Tottenham Transfers: 5 Striker Alternatives to Adebayor

Five alternatives that can be just as effective as the Togolese striker (and with lower wage demands!) for Spurs.

After recruiting two very talented, in-demand stars at the start of summer- Jan Vertonghen and Gylfi Sigurdsson - all Tottenham Hotspur require is a striker to enhance their squad for the upcoming season. Emmanuel Adebayor's excessive wage demands has put chairman Daniel Levy off towards any permanent deal for the Man City forward. Although Adebayor impressed greatly on-loan at €œThe Lane€ last season, here are five alternatives that can be just as effective as the Togolese striker (and with lower wage demands!) for Spurs:

1. Steven Fletcher

Coming on the footballing radar with Burnley in their debut season, Fletcher caught the eyes of many pundits and audiences alike. His goal tally impressed many across the Premier League so much that ,in 2010, Wolves sealed the Scotland striker's services for a club record £7million transfer fee. Consistent performances season on season has seen Fletcher net 36 goals so far whilst playing in the Premier League. A move to Tottenham would only drive the Shrewsbury born forward even more and could turn him into a elite level striker. And though he may not look it but Fletcher is still pretty young. At only 25 the current Wolves front-man is sure to have a respectable career on the cards regardless of any potential move. A major advantage for Tottenham, if they sign Fletcher, is he is already got Premier League experience.
