Tottenham's game against Everton this weekend at White Hart Lane has become the first Premier League fixture to be postponed following the riots in the UK. None of the other opening day Premier League fixtures have yet to be called off but the Association of Chief Police Officers football lead Andy Holt earlier told the BBC that each game will be dealt with on a case-by-case basis. It does seems likely that many other football matches, and indeed other sporting events, will also be postponed as the Police continue to try to contain the criminality which has swept the UK. On Wednesday evening the International friendly between England and Holland was also called off, as well as numerous Carling Cup fixtures which were taking place in the capital. Clearly it is important that the Police get their priorities right in what has been a difficult week and unfortunately for football fans, that means that they may have to wait that little bit longer to see their teams return to action.
