New Girl is the most heart-warming glow that could possibly emanate from your TV screen today. It doesn't take itself too seriously, it doesn't ask much of the audience, it doesn't come equipped with a rage-inducing laugh track.

It's just a genuine, comfortable comedy, and fans love it that way. It would be easy for an outsider to brand it as 'the one with Zooey Deschanel' but her absence during a portion of Season 5 went a long way towards proving New Girl is far more than just Jess Day's fantastic nature.

Nick is a king among men, Cece's sarcasm could cut through anything, Winston's weirdness is escalating out of control, and Schmidt is... Schmidt. Five years have passed since we were first introduced to the characters, and there have been some amazing moments since then. Everybody has their own personal favourites, but here are the top 10 New Girl greatest episodes since the show skipped onto our screens.

10. Reagan (Season 5, Episode 6)

Fox

Yes, one of New Girl's finest episodes went ahead WITHOUT Zooey Deschanel. The star took time out to give birth to her daughter following several episodes of conveniently placed props, items of furniture and sneaky camera angles to hide the bump.

It seemed like a prank that Megan Fox would be called upon to replace her for a few episodes, but guess what? She has been fantastic as Reagan. Maybe it was the fact that it was so unexpected, but Reagan's introduction episode was great fun and refreshed a show that has soldiered into its fifth season.
