Sadly, characters that had once graced the small screen like Captain Kirk and Superman disappointed on the big screen while Avengers spin-off Agents Of SHIELD fared no better on the small screen initially. A lot of this year's TV came from movies: the adaptation of Sleepy Hollow surprised TV viewers while Sherlock Holmes' adaption Elementary kept us watching and Teen Wolf created a huge internet fanbase, and the often gruesome Hannibal became cult and Psycho prequel Bates Motel unsettled everyone who tuned in.
