I can't guarantee that any one of these shows will be the next Walking Dead or Game of Thrones, just because all the signs point in the right direction. None of us have a crystal ball. That said, television as a medium has grown more and more impressive as the years go by. Gone are the days of predictably dull network shows (well, not gone -- we still have a veritable army of reality programs and more cop procedurals than there are actual crimes in America). But still, there are a growing number of shows, both network and cable, that have drawn more critical praise and viewer interest than ever before. Enough to draw movies stars away from the film industry, something virtually unheard of only decades ago. The term "golden age" is one that gets tossed around like a football, but in this case, it's entirely accurate. So we should all be forgiven for eagerly keeping our ears to the ground in anticipation of next year's new crop of shows. Here are the ten that seem the most promising. Who knows? You might even find a replacement for Breaking Bad or Dexter among them.
