Television innovation has been continuing apace for the past 20 years with larger, better, more efficient screens. HD screens are now prevalent with HD Ready as a minimum. The battle between Plasma and LCD was over a long time ago in truth but until Panasonic€™s recent pull out, there was at least a chance. Plasma technology has reached its peak, though so despite Samsung and LG still making panels, LCD is the clear winner (more on that later). We have ever increasing refresh rates, better quality screens, SMART features and thinner bezels. Incoming are 4K, with hugely impressive visuals and a huge price tag, OLED which is slim and efficient but years away from affordable larger screens, and further down the road Super Hi-Vision or 8K. Look around your living room, look at a neighbour€™s house next time you€™re there and answer this question: €œDo you see a CRT TV anywhere?€ 20 years ago a 32€ CRT TV would have been considered luxury and too large for the living room.
