A couple of weeks ago we looked at 12 ridiculous ways TV characters were brought back from the dead; stories where shocking plot developments were ignored just so the show could go in a different direction. Suicides being faked to characters returning without explanation and being explained away as angels, there have been countless instances where TV resurrections from the dead have been, frankly, ludicrous. But it's not all a laughing matter. Sometimes characters can return from the grave in seemingly imaginative and ingenious ways. With a healthy dose of mystery, the supernatural and most importantly of all, plausibility, character resurrections can be a thrilling shake up in the drama of any show. It doesn't matter if it€™s a gritty crime drama or a show set on a space ship in another galaxy; like any story, a character€™s resurrection can be believable if it€™s done respectfully and with style and flair. It€™s a reason Sara Tancredi€™s return in Prison Break was silly. You can€™t show someone€™s decapitated head and then next season explain it all away as a hoax. The less said about rebooting story lines after an entire year by making it all a dream, the better. Dallas, you never recovered from that one.
