13 Reasons Why Season 4: Ranking Every Character From Worst To Best

Who stole the show in 13 Reasons Why's final season?

13 Reasons Why features one of the most complex cast of characters in recent television history. Yes, the Netflix series boasts a large ensemble of young characters - all of whom are struggling with their own issues as they try to navigate their way through the dangerous labyrinth that is Liberty High - and equally engaging parents who are so much more than the token parental figures we see too often on TV.

However, things came to an end for the show as the fourth and final season made its way onto the streaming service, bringing about an end to these rich characters' stories. And, after getting away with murder in the previous season, they now had to make sure they could keep their secret buried - a mammoth task for the final offering.

Season 4 threw more ridiculous obstacles at these characters, as Clay struggled with his mental health, Alex struggled with his actions and Zach struggled in silence as every one of them tried to make it through Senior Year.

Which of them rose up in the face adversity and made an impression on us, and which of them couldn't quite get there? Let's find out...

Please be aware, this post contains MAJOR SPOILERS for 13 Reasons Why Season 4.

17. Sheriff Diaz

Sheriff Diaz was portrayed as little more than a caricature last season, showing up to intimidate Clay Jensen into confessing to a murder that he didn't commit. This season, however, he received something of an upgrade.

From his concerns over how Deputy Standall closed the Bryce Walker case to his renewed interest in Clay, it looked like he may become a more serious problem this time around, but in a refreshing subversion of our expectations, he was just genuinely concerned about Clay's well-being. And even though he implied that he had figured out what really happened to Bryce, he let sleeping dogs lie because he knew Standall's intentions were noble.

See what a little character depth can do?
