7 Hints That Cersei Will Die On Game Of Thrones

When you play the Game of Thrones, you win or you get stripped and publicly shamed.

Clearly, Westeros doesn't boast the best survival rate. Characters that you grow to love or love to hate will be gone in an instant, leaving you feeling shocked and a little violated. That's just the risk you take when you invest any kind of emotion into George R.R. Martin's Game of Thrones.

Sometimes there are quick hints that point to the next unlucky victim: if you pay attention to the subtleties, the hints are all there. And unfortunately for Lannister fans, the signs are pointing suspiciously towards the fact that the great and powerful Cersei may be living on borrowed time.

Season five showcased a roller coaster of power shifts for everyone's favourite hellion. After Margaery peacocked a little too enthusiastically, Cersei quickly turned the tables by aligning herself with religious nutbags, The Sparrows and preyed on the young Queen's loyalty to her family by forcing her to lie under oath to protect her brother. Cut to Margaery dressed in a sack and tossed into a dirty cell, incapable of manipulating Cersei's beloved Tommen. Genius.

As it turns out though, not so much.

The Sparrows don't discriminate on who they discriminate against. People who get busy with their own family members happen to be high up on their hit list and that particular activity seems to be a habitual pastime for Cersei. After her imprisonment, we were subjected to a new Cersei. One completely stripped of power.

And it might be about to get a lot worse...

7. Almost All Of Her Children Are Worm Food

When Joffrey kicked it at the Purple Wedding, the relief was palpable. I mean, someone was going to murder that little troll. That left Cersei with two spawn left, which remained the case right up until the very end of the season. Then Myrcella made the fatal mistake of acceptign a kiss from a snake.

That's two out of three offspring gone, and all we have left is sweet Tommen. The Ruler of the Seven Kingdoms, who is starving himself in bed because Margaery is locked up. It's not looking good.

In the flashback at the beginning of Season 5, we were treated to little Cersei demanding her fortune be read by Maggy The Frog, a witch that they woke up in a swamp hut. After giving the standard drop of blood for Maggy to suck on, she was told that she will have three children. She then peppered in this detail:

"Gold shall be their crowns and gold their shrouds."

So in layman's terms, "your kids are going to die".

This is particularly poignant because Cersei has repeatedly demonstrated that her children are everything to her.

"But if it weren't for my children, I would have thrown myself from the highest tower in the Red Keep. They're the reason I'm alive."

As evil as she is, her children are her reason for living. With all of them gone, potentially all under completely horrific circumstances, she will have very little to live for in her mind. And she might just deliver on that promise to fly.
