1. Characters
Few television shows these days have so many well developed yet like-able characters as The West Wing. Sam, Josh, CJ, Donna, Leo, Charlie, Toby, each brought their own dimension to the show, both individually and as part of a team, how Sorkin managed to keep each of these characters interesting and engaging is miraculous. This is part of the reason why The West Wing is in a class of its own compared to current TV drama. Whilst Mad Men, Breaking Bad, House and Homeland all have strong core characters, none of them can claim to rival the ensemble performances of Sorkins masterpiece. The only show to rival the strength in depth of character in The West Wing is the equally brilliant Sopranos. Click next for part two below...
