Agents Of SHIELD's visual effects supervisor has set the record straight on the show's return.
Mark Kolpack has confirmed that the series' fifth season will kick off in January next year, clearing up the scheduling confusion which followed ABC's renewal.

However, Kolpack has since confirmed the January 2018 premiere date and revealed that season five will comprise an uninterrupted run of 22 episodes.
Agents of SHIELD's fourth season shook up the status quo, introducing magic and mysticism to the show will the inclusion of Ghost Rider and the Darkhold.
The series was created for ABC by Joss Whedon, Jed Whedon and Maurissa Tancharoen and aired its first episode in September 2013.
Clark Gregg reprises his role as Agent Coulson for the Avengers films and the show has featured several episodes which tie in with the movie universe, with the likes of Hayley Atwell and Samuel L Jackson making cameo appearances.
Agents of SHIELD's viewership has declined since the first season aired, but it was still pulling in an average of more than 5 million viewers during its third season.
