AMC Confirms The Walking Dead Season 4

The long awaited third season of The Walking Dead is almost upon us and the show isn't showing any signs of flatlining any time soon as AMC have indirectly announced a fourth outing. According to the network's own site AMCTV, The Walking Dead will be joining forces with the American Red Cross to help with their latest blood drive across the United States - because blood is something the makers of The Walking Dead know quite a lot about. However, when issuing a statement on the official TWD blog the network also let slip that production of a fourth season was already on the cards:

Just because the walkers are mindless flesh-eaters doesn't mean you have to be so inconsiderate. AMC and The Walking Dead are joining forces with the American Red Cross for a nationwide blood drive that, aside from being a great way to show your humanity, also might win you a 3-day, 2-night trip to the Season 4 production of The Walking Dead in 2013.

The Walking Dead is already AMC's highest rated show so the announcement doesn't come as a huge shock to anybody, but it is good to see that a show about the undead has such a bright and prosperous future ahead of it. The addition of the mysterious Michonne and her Zombie slaves and The Governor within the terrifying prison setting have added enough intrigue to keep fans chomping at the bit in anticipation of season 3, with such an extensive back catalogue of source material to work with who knows where season 4 will take us? The Walking Dead returns to FX October 14th. The original seasons can be seen on Demand from October 1st.
