With its summer hiatus in the rear-view mirror, Arrow has returned to The CW for its seventh season. The premiere, titled 'Inmate 4587' spent quite some time introducing us to the new rules of this old world, catching us up on some of the events that had taken place in the five-month gap since the Season 6 finale. Oh, how things have changed.

With Oliver Queen locked up in a super-maximum security prison alongside some of his deadliest foes, the show didn't waste any time in letting us know that it was going to be a rough year for the former vigilante. In doing so, it also highlighted that the rest of the characters are struggling to honour his wishes in his absence, knowing that he is suffering behind those impenetrable bars.

However, the debut of a new (and violent) vigilante changed things up dramatically, causing problems for some while easing a burden for others. Speaking of game-changing, a major twist threw the whole season's storyline up in the air and has left everything in a state of uncertainty.

With this season premiere, Arrow has successfully channelled its darkness to find its light again, and if it keeps this up, it could have one thrilling season in store for its fans.
