Family Guy: 10 Jokes That Just Weren’t Funny

Sometimes the line is there for a reason...

No one needs another Conway Twitty interlude, nor a chicken fight that lasts 5 minutes. No one needs Peter clutching his knee, moaning "ahhh, ahhh, ahhh" over and over again. People need those things less than they need Meg. Shut up, Meg. Every comedy drops the ball now and then: animated comedies are not immune to this, despite having the opportunity to do things and go places regular sitcoms cannot. It's true of The Simpsons, it's true of South Park, and it's certainly true of Family Guy. Sometimes, it's almost as if the writers are throwing everything they've got at the wall in certain episodes, and just seeing what sticks. After all, given how random, shocking, and out there they can be with an animated show, there's a good chance audiences will be entertained by at least half of it, right? And a fifty percent success rate is actually pretty darn good when it comes to comedy. That leaves, however, the other fifty percent (or 60/40, 70/30, it may vary from outing to outing) that just doesn't work. Some of those jokes just don't work, are executed or delivered wrong, or (in the case of Family Guy) fail to do more than just shock. Now, there's nothing wrong with some shocking humour - but the shock material still needs to be funny. That's not to say that this is just looking at times when Family Guy went too far and the jokes fell flat. This will be looking at everything, from one-liners to cutaway gags and everything in between. Now it's time to highlight ten Family Guy jokes that just aren't really funny.
