Game Of Thrones: 10 Best Episodes (According To IMDb)

No prizes for guessing season eight is absent from this list.

Game of Thrones is without doubt one of the biggest TV shows of all time. Based on George R. R. Martin's Song of Ice and Fire book series, audiences went mad for the complex characters, the rich and intricate story telling, and just about everything that made up the world of Westeros.

While the show arguably dipped in quality as soon as the producers ran out of Martin's source material, Game of Thrones was still one of the best shows around. The highly divisive season 8 may have tarnished this reputation slightly, but nothing can change the quality years produced before this.

IMDb's user score provides an easy way to rank every one of Game of Thrones' 73 episodes based on the opinion of the viewers rather than critics, and while most of these episodes are excellent, some are simply better than others.

To put this into perspective, an almost unbelievable score of 9.7 is required to make the top ten, demonstrating just how good Game of Thrones was.

For the purposes of this list, tie breakers are settled by the number of ratings for each episode, so while season four's 'The Children' also earned a 9.7, its lower rating total drops it to 11th, just one spot off making the list.

10. Blackwater - 9.7

After Ned Stark lost his head in season one, 'Blackwater' continued in making the ninth episode of the season the biggest and best. All of season two built up to the battle on the waters of King's Landing, and in no way did it disappoint.

Stannis' attack on the capital of Westeros, and subsequent defeat, signaled the beginning of the end of the War of the Five Kings. Robert's brother retreated after facing a wall of wildfire, as Tywin Lannister returned to strengthen his grandson's grip on the Iron Throne.

This episode furthered the stories of so many characters in just the battle alone. The Tyrells joined Joffrey's cause, the Hound finally abandoned his King and white cloak, and Cersei tried to kill, not only her brother, but her son too, both for very different reasons.

The outstanding character from this episode is without a doubt Tyrion. Before being slashed across the face during the heat of battle, the Halfman led his men into the fire and the fighting when Sandor Clegane was too scared, and demonstrated once again that he was one of the few characters that would not put up with Joffrey's sh*t. Peter Dinklage's performance as Tywin's son in 'Blackwater' was so great that it earned him one of his many Emmy nominations.
