Game Of Thrones: 10 Characters The Show Wants You To Forget About

When you play the game of thrones, you win or you die... Or you get forgotten about entirely.

There’s no doubt that Game Of Thrones is a carefully plotted, deeply intricate show that has been driving toward its series finale since it started back in 2011. Every scene, every piece of dialogue, every Valyrian steel dagger shown on screen is put there for a reason. Game Of Thrones is a show that doesn’t take detours unless they’re totally necessary, so it makes sense to trust in George RR Martin, David Benioff, and D. B. Weiss, when it comes to showing us only the information that we need to know. And a lot of nudity and violence along the way.

Nevertheless, over the past seven seasons in Westeros audiences of Game Of Thrones have been introduced to countless characters. Some are dismissed immediately, some become integral to the plot in unexpected ways, and some (most) are killed in horrific and brutal fashion.

But what about the characters that simply vanished from the series and aren’t mentioned anymore? What about the inhabitants of Westeros and Essos that didn’t die but are no longer seen? Were their stories a useless diversion, or, perhaps, have we not seen the last of these once important characters as the show ramps up to its end game?

Let’s take a look at the 10 Game Of Thrones characters that are forgotten but not gone, and may be ready to come back in a big way.

10. Gendry Baratheon

You may remember Gendry Baratheon from such Game Of Thrones episodes as… A lot of them. Yes, if you can believe it, at one point Gendry was actually given a lot of screen time and was seemingly an important cog in the Battle of the Five Kings.

The Baratheon bastard was not only carrying King Robert’s bloodline, but he was looked at by Melisandre as a saviour of sorts, someone with king’s blood who could be sacrificed in order to perform blood magic for the Lord of Light.

Ultimately Gendry’s sacrifice never came as Davos Seaworth snuck Gendry out of his cell, put him in a rowboat, and sent him off the coast of Dragstone. He was told to keep rowing and that's presumably what he's done since we last saw him in Season 3.

While a lot has changed since the last time we saw Gendry, most notably the fact that House Baratheon is extinct and the War of the Five Kings is over, his return would still throw a big wrench in the plans of the Lannisters and Targaryens of the world. And it looks like that's exactly what's going to happen at some point in Season 7, as rumors have Gendry finally stepping off that rowboat and causing some bastardised havoc before the war is all said and done.
