Game Of Thrones: 10 Characters Who Need To Die In Season 6

Because f**k Olly.

By Sam Hill /

The defining feature of television's biggest TV show, Game Of Thrones, is the way in which it seems to kill off its most beloved characters on a total and utter whim, oblivious to the conventions of a medium that kind of relies on its characters to, you know, survive. As a result, people tend to sit down to Game Of Thrones week after week, episode after episode, with an inescapable feeling of nervousness lurking in their stomachs. Anything could happen! Anyone could die! If an episode cuts to black without a beloved character coming to a gruesome end, the sense of total relief is insanely euphoric - crisis averted. Sometimes, though, it feels like the right time for a character to make their exit, either because they've used up all their dramatic potential, have proven themselves too grating or irritating, or just because they're plainly evil and deserve to get their comeuppance. Here are 10 such characters, all of whom need to die at some point in season six...

10. Alliser Thorne

Alliser Thorne was a "thorn" in Jon Snow's side for a long ol' time, though it seemed as though he was finally coming round to the bastard Stark son after years of harassment - was it possible these enemies might finally join forces on a basis of mutual respect? Nope! During the very last episode of season five, Alliser and a bunch of the other Night's Watch boys stabbed poor Jon Snow to death, like, six times (whether he's actually "dead" remains a mystery, though), in a stunning turn of events that totally shocked the world. Alliser has been a meddling jerk ever since he was first introduced, causing untold problems for Jon Snow and his friends out of a misplaced sense of pride. Unless the writers can find a way to redeem this character somehow (an infinitely difficult task, given what has happened), we're praying for Alliser to get his head smashed in.
