Game Of Thrones Season 7: 11 Big Questions After 'The Spoils Of War'
"Queen of Thorns give you one last prick in the balls before saying goodbye?"
Well, Seven bloody Hells, now that was an episode of Game of Thrones.
Although it comes in as the fourth instalment of Season 7, taking us to and then just beyond the halfway point, there was a clear episode 9 vibe here as The Spoils of War becomes The Horrors of War, and Daenerys marked herself as Queen of the Ashes.
The jaw-dropping, pulse-quickening sequence that closes out the episode is understandably the source of the major talking points, but there's a heck of a lot going on here besides the Field of Fire.
With Arya returning home and showing just how much she's changed, the re-emergence of the catspaw dagger, Cersei making promises to the Iron Bank, and Jon Snow back in a cave, there's much to unpack and ponder over for the next week, and that's before the word "dracarys" is even uttered.
Once it is, of course, everything changes. The episode goes from good to great, lives are taken, fates are left up in the air, and Daenerys delivers a lot of fire, and a fair bit of blood too. It's an excellent episode, and one that leaves a lot hanging in the balance when the credits roll and you can finally catch your breath.
