Game of Thrones Season 8 Episode 3 had been billed as a battle for the ages. This was the Great War we've been promised. The Battle of Winterfell. The Battle for the Dawn. The battle between the living and the dead.

Whatever name you wanted to put on it, it was coming in this episode. We dreaded it. Ran from it. And death still arrived.

The episode was as epic as promised. With vast swathes of extras, lots of CGI, and a general sense of scale that was almost overwhelming, The Long Night more or less lived up to its promise. The army of the dead came, the living fought them, and there were deaths and MAJOR shocks along the way.

We bid goodbye to fan-favourites like Jorah and Beric, Theon completed his redemption arc, and the Night King himself was killed by Arya Stark in a moment that will leave your jaw on the floor long after the credits roll. It's an episode that changes everything, and leaves a lot fo questions in its wake.
