Holy Crossover! Batwoman & Gotham City Are Coming To The Arrowverse
Na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, Batwoman!
The Arrowverse is continuing to add to its considerable roster of DC superheroes next year, with star Stephen Amell confirming the arrival of Kate Kane, aka Batwoman.
Amell announced at The CW's Upfronts presentation that Batwoman would feature in next season's Arrowverse crossover, which unites Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl, and Legends of Tomorrow. Not only that, but Gotham City is going to feature as well.
The Arrowverse has dropped a few hints as to Gotham's existence over the years: Rip Hunter mentioned seeing "Dark Knights fall" on Legends, and earlier in this season of Arrow, Oliver Queen directly mentioned Bruce Wayne and Gotham.
It means the show is going to have to finally and fully explain Gotham's place in this world, while giving us the first live-action take on the Batwoman character.
The character is a wealthy heiress who, inspired by Batman's heroics, decides to put her wealth to good use and fight crime as a masked vigilante, with many of the same skills as the Caped Crusader.
The announcement leaves open a number of questions, such as which Earth the character will appear on, whether or not Batman exists as well (and if so, where's he been all this time), and whether this might launch another Arrowverse series. For now, though, it's just another exciting setup for what's become a yearly TV highlight.
