Marvel's Iron Fist Review: 3 Ups And 7 Downs
The final Defender arrives at last, but it wasn't exactly worth the wait.
Iron Fist has had a long, somewhat troubled path to the screen.
Announced back in 2013 with its fellow Defenders, it's been pushed back in favour of Luke Cage, had its entire existence cast in some real doubt, and most of all faced a lot of controversy over the decision to cast a white actor in its lead role, with multiple calls for an update to the comics and an actor of Asian descent to cast instead.
The final hurdle has been a raft of poor reviews - based on the first six episodes, anyway - that paint it as being by some distance the worst Netflix Marvel series yet. Finn Jones has hit back, opening up the ridiculous old 'fans v critics' debate (because critics can't be fans, and fans can't be critical?), and even blaming Trump (he's at fault for many things, but even he can't take the fall for this one).
Now, though, the full thing is here, with the first season hitting Netflix just over a week ago. Now most people will have had a chance to binge-wacth, it's time to analyse what the series actually got right - and the areas where it failed.
