Iron Fist's second season has arrived on Netflix, with the 10-episode run an improvement on the show's critically-mauled debut (check back later for a full review of Season 2).

A big part of this year's arc, and Danny Rand's motivations, is him stepping up to replace Daredevil as the protector of New York, with Matt Murdock out-of-action - and believed dead by many - following the events of The Defenders. As if the point was clear enough, it even has Iron Fist battling against Typhoid Mary (Alice Eve), who is traditionally a Daredevil villain.

However, Danny won't have to fill in for too much longer, with the promise of Daredevil Season 3 coming in 2018, and the show itself includes a post-credits scene at the end of the 10th and final episode that you're going to want to stick around for, with Netflix teasing the return of The Man Without Fear.

The scene finds Charlie Cox's Daredevil in a familiar setting: a confession box, where he's lamenting the darkness of the world, saying:

"I once believed that justice could be found in a court of law, and in the light of day. But I was fooling myself. Darkness only responds to darkness. And the truth is, I'd rather die as the devil, than live as Matt Murdock."

Daredevil Season 3 will see Matt being cared for by his mother, Maggie, but it appears he'll be back in action before too long. It's interesting to note that he seems to be back to wearing his very early, rudimentary black costume that he wore for much of Season 1 before getting the traditional red suit. He also looks rather bloodied and bruised, which isn't an unfamiliar position for him to be in.

The suit, coupled quote of him saying he'd "rather die as the devil", points to someone who has fallen into a pit of darkness and despair, going back to the costume that gives less protection because he no longer cares what happens to him (and also because he's lost the other, but the thematics are important here). It's widely believed that Season 3 will adapt elements of Frank Miller's Born Again storyline, which sees Wilson Fisk discover Daredevil's identity and attempt to destroy Matt's life, and him expressing he'd choose death over living as Matt hints that Kingpin's methods may well be working.

Netflix haven't yet released an air date for Daredevil Season 3, but there are rumours it'll drop as soon as next month, with New York Comic-Con (October 4-7) a good time to make the announcement (or even drop the season itself).
