Marvel's "Luke Cage" To Debut On Netflix September 30

Mike Colter has announced that season one of Marvel's next Netflix series, "Luke Cage," will premiere on the streaming services from September 30. "Luke Cage" is Marvel's third TV series created in conjunction with Netflix. The first, "Daredevil," premiered on April 10, 2015 to near-universal acclaim and currently holds a 98% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes. "Jessica Jones" followed on November 20 and received a similarly warm reception. Colter first appeared as Cage on "Jessica Jones," echoing the storyline of the popular comic book series "Alias," where Cage and Jones were first romantically linked. While "Jessica Jones" served as the Marvel Cinematic Universe introduction of Cage, the comic character was first created in 1972, almost thirty years before Jones. The two have since gotten married, become Avengers, and had a daughter, Danielle. Former Marvel Editor-in-Chief and current Chief Creative Officer Joe Quesada has offered some insight into the series, telling Comic Book Resources that it would venture beyond the New York City depicted in "Daredevil": "Were not just locking ourselves into Hells Kitchen, although a lot of stuff does come out of Hells Kitchen. Luke Cages world is still New York, but its a different neighborhood." "Luke Cage" stars Colter, Alfre Woodard, Mahershala Ali, and Simone Missick.
