Netflix are yet to officially renew The Umbrella Academy for Season 2, but the production team is already scouting reports for the next run of episodes.

The show has proved to be a success for the streaming service, with strong reviews and seemingly plenty of viewers, although as ever with Netflix it's difficult to get an exact gauge on how many people have been watching it. It's clearly something they have long-term plans for though, given how much the first season sets up a second, and Screen Rant report that work is already underway on looking at locations.

According to their report, the team are looking for "residential properties, farms and farm houses, in rural Southern Ontario." That doesn't give too much away, but does confirm we'll be seeing some different locales from the more urban-based first season, which could fit with the idea of them going reasonably far back into the past.

Confirmation of Season 2 seems to be a mere formality then, with Netflix typically waiting around a month after airing before announcing their decision on such matters. Gerard Way, who writes the comic book series upon which it's based, recently told Collider he'd given the TV team an outline of what was coming:

“What I did for Steve Blackman (the showrunner) and the writers in that first writers room was to create an eighteen page document that laid everything out. Even of the graphic novels that haven’t come out yet. Which should equal eight when we’re all done. So I gave them the blueprint for what happens, because you do want to seed certain things in there for future series and the hope is that it’s a success so that you do a lot more of these."
