Ranking Every Major MCU Netflix Villain From Worst To Best

Everybody wants to be the king.

In spite of how good the franchise is as a whole, the one criticism that is frequently thrown by fans at the films of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is the lack of strong, memorable villains.

Fans of the Netflix original series that take place within the MCU, however, have been singing a very different tune ever since Daredevil premiered back in 2015, and rightly so. Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, The Defenders, and The Punisher all have great, malicious villains that put many of Marvel Studios' baddies to shame. Even the frequently-panned Iron Fist had a few diamonds in the rough.

That said, while it's true that the Marvel Netflix shows have some utterly fantastic villains, that doesn't mean that every single one is something to write home about. Even when you discard some of the interchangeable goons or forgettable one-off villains, and even though there are very few major villains that are objectively bad, it's clear that a hierarchy of quality exists.

After all, everybody wants to be the king, but that doesn't mean that everybody can.

29. Murakami And Sowande (The Defenders)

Sometimes, even main villains aren't immune to feeling clichéd or disposable, and in The Defenders, those villains were two of the five leaders of the Hand, Murakami and Sowande.

While these two were integral to the Hand's plans behind the scenes, you don't actually get to see them do a whole lot of anything. (Besides get defeated by the heroes, of course.) Plus, unlike Madame Gao and Bakuto, these two don't appear outside of The Defenders, which doesn't exactly help as far as character building goes.

With Sowande dead and Murakami presumably the same after doing very little, these two are the bottom of the barrel when it comes to main villains.
