Riverdale Season 3: 3 Ups & 2 Downs From ‘The Raid’
Chad Michael Murray steals the show as the season's charismatic villain.
Contains spoilers from Riverdale Season 3, Episode 17.
While much of Riverdale's third season has been devoted to the town's obsession with eerie game Gryphons & Gargoyles, there has been also been a secondary, more mysterious (and perhaps more disturbing), narrative running parallel to it. That, of course, revolved around the unnerving institution known simply as The Farm.
Though it would eventually be revealed that the two unique entities have more in common than viewers initially thought, there was still an air of mystery surrounding the whole thing that, with less than 10 episodes of the season left, needed to be cleared up. Well, after last week's gleeful musical episode, that ball has finally started rolling.
Following the long-awaited introduction of The Farm's leader, Edgar Evernever, 'The Raid' officially introduced us to the charismatic newcomer, allowing Chad Michael Murray to entice viewers with his captivating performance. It also furthered the ongoing drama between the Jones family and reintroduced a fan-favourite from earlier in the season.
On a whole, 'The Raid' is a mixed bag, flirting with deep and emotional storytelling in one arc while falling into predictably underwhelming territory in the other.
First, the positives.
