Sense8 Season 2: 12 Things To Expect

Fingers crossed for more psychic orgies.

The Wachowskis’ Sense8 is one of the most entertaining, groundbreaking, and off-kilter shows to emerge on Netflix. The premise is simple: one day, eight people who live in different countries around the globe and have never met discover they are able to mentally communicate, even being able to share skills and so help each other out of sticky situations.

Over the course of the first season, released way back in 2015, viewers got to know each and every one of this ‘sensate cluster’ and their very personal stories, from Mexican actor Lito’s struggle to keep his homosexuality a secret to Korean businesswoman Sun’s wrongful imprisonment.

We also saw an all-encompassing story arc begin to develop – just who was Whispers, and why did he want to round up the sensates?

The answers to these questions, and the many more bubbling away in our thoughts, will finally come in Sense8’s second season. This past Christmas's feature-length special aside, it’s been a long wait, but it’s nearly over – ten new episodes will be released on 5th May.

And we already have a pretty good idea of what to expect...

12. Lito Faces Being Publicly Out

One of the most emotional – and, for many, relatable – stories of season one was that of Lito (Miguel Angel Silvestre), an actor at the top of his game in the Mexican film industry but who was struggling to keep his homosexuality under wraps.

By the end of the season, however, images of Lito having sex with boyfriend Hernando (Alfonso Herrera) had leaked, and all was out in the open. The Christmas special began to show us the difficulties this was causing the couple, but chose to end on an optimistic beat, with Lito's mother accepting him for who he is. Not everyone will be so kind, however...

Over the coming season, Lito, Hernando, and their reckless third wheel Daniela (Erendira Ibarra) will face the cruel reality of their society's homophobia. Kicked out of his apartment and with his career on the line, Lito will have to rely on his friends more than ever, and it looks like his relationship is going to be truly tested.
