Now we've all had a bit of time to digest that shocking Moriarty twist, let's look at the show with a little more retrospect: we love Sherlock because it's about the thrill of the chase, the blood pumping through your veins, just the two of them against the rest of the world. And that's exciting. But it's also about the tension that glues your eyes to the screen; the contrast between the laugh-out-loud amusement and the bone dry punchlines that you'll only appreciate the third time around. It's about Sherlock getting drunk to Rihanna, John asking if he's wearing any pants, and Mycroft gazing skywards at the antics of his little brother. It's about the incredible detail, the loving nods to Conan Doyle, the meticulous puzzle-piecing and the sheer adrenaline of the mystery: despite how often he tells us he's really not a hero, Sherlock Holmes will forever be someone that we'd so easily accept an investigation invitation from. It could be another year before we see Benedict Cumberbatch don the designer jacket and scarf, taking to the streets of London, but in the meantime, let's look back on this extraordinary television show and ask, what were the best moments?
