Star Wars: Tim Curry Joins Cast Of Clone Wars

By Matt Aspin /

Dave Filoni, the Supervising Director on hit animated TV show Star Wars Clone Wars has revealed that they have finally named a replacement for the late Ian Abercrombie who passed away a little over a year ago and we think fans will be thrilled by the show's choice . For five years Abercrombie had provided the voices of 2 of the galaxies most heinous villains Darth Sidious and the Chancellor Palpetine as well as countless other characters over the years including Star Wars video games but sadly died in January last year following kidney failure. Had he not voiced such important characters he may not have been replaced however without the show's most infamous bad guy there perhaps would be no point in continuing however it was important to replace him with the right actor and we can reveal that it will in fact be Tim Curry the man behind the terrifying Pennywise The Dancing Clown. We're sure you'll agree that is an inspired piece of casting. In a statement made recently Filoni said the following:

We had an extensive search to find a new voice for Palpatine. It wasn€™t just a matter of finding an actor who could to recreate lines from the films. We needed someone to deliver a performance that could stand alongside what Ian McDiarmid and Ian Abercrombie created as this legendary Star Wars character. At the end of the day, there is little question that bringing in an actor of Tim€™s calibre was perfect for Chancellor Palpatine.

Curry will make his debut in the current season's big finale and will reprise his role full time when Clone Wars returns later this year and as much as fans will miss Abercrombie's work they can rest assure Mr Curry will fill his boots to perfection. Source: Huffington Post
