The series' third year will get underway next week, and almost everything is going to be different. The Season 2 finale saw Barry go back in time and choose to save his mother from death at the ends of Reverse-Flash, setting in motion an event known as Flashpoint.

Essentially rewriting the entire history of the show, Flashpoint will see a Barry who grew up with both of his parents, and doesn't really know Joe or Iris. On top of that, Cisco is a billionaire, Eobard Thawne is back, and the new hero in town is Wally West's Kid Flash.

As well as Flashpoint, there's plenty we already know about the upcoming season: it has two Big Bads, in Dr Alchemy and Savitar; we'll be taking a trip to Gorilla City; John Wesley Shipp's Jay Garrick will be back; and there's going to be a musical crossover with Supergirl, as well as a four-way crossover including Arrow and Legends of Tomorrow.

However, specifics still haven't been revealed, and there's plenty we don't yet know as The Flash aims to get back on top form. There have been hints and teases though, which means a few educated guesses can be made about what direction the Scarlet Speedster is headed in.

10. Flashpoint Will End Very Early

Flashpoint is being teased as the big, game-changing, all-consuming event of The Flash Season 3. In some respects, that's pretty fair: it'll massively change the timeline, and the characters we thought we knew will be noticeably different, while the storyline itself is based on a major one from the comics.

On the other hand, it's not actually going to last very long. Rather than a season-long spanning event, it'll likely be dealt was very early on in the season. Various comments and reports have given different notions, ranging from 'just the pilot' to it being sorted out in the crossover (typically episode 8).

While there's no official confirmation, it seems a fair bet we can expect Barry to really start putting things right by the second episode of the new season, and it'll either be dealt with there and then, or an episode or two later - albeit still having repercussions throughout.
