The Flash Season 6 Review: 5 Ups & 3 Downs From 'A Flash Of The Lightning'

The Crisis comes to life in another solid offering from The Flash's sixth season.

The Flash's sixth season sped its way onto our screens last week with a premiere episode that somehow managed to suggest that the show was set for both lighter and darker days in the coming months. And as unorthodox as that sounds, The Flash's ability to balance occasionally grim subject matter with the levity of its own tone has been one of its greatest strengths over the past five years.

That continued into the second offering of the season as, following The Monitor's reveal that The Flash must die and all that terrifying jazz, the Scarlet Speedster decided to see the result for himself and it was, of course, unbearably grim. But in spite of that, it wasn't without hope because, even in the darkest of times, hope is what makes The Flash (the person and the show) go round.

'A Flash of The Lightning' captured the very essence of the show, highlighting the strength of its characters while also giving us our first glimpse of the horrors that await in the Crisis - allowing the team to begin establishing a game-plan for the inevitable. Though there were a few hiccups along the way, it was indeed another solid offering in what is shaping up to be a game-changing season.
