The Simpsons: 10 Best Bart Simpson Lines

There’s a lot more to El Barto than just "eat my shorts"...

By Laura Holmes /

Bartholomew JoJo "Bart" Simpson, born - somewhat fittingly - on April Fools Day, might not really enjoy the top billing on The Simpsons that he once did (come on, it's Homer's show), but the eldest child of the yellow clan is still Springfield's most famous son. While his bumbling father has stolen a lot of the limelight, and focus has been drawn away from Bart since his heyday as The Bartman back in the early '90s, Bart remains a hugely quotable, brilliantly funny character. He's anarchic, outrageous and surprisingly deep (it's through him that the best of the show's focus on early sexual identity and puberty has been done) and just like most of the rest of his family, he's a walking soundbite. Like Homer, Bart's successes are a bonus to all under-achievers and black sheep in every family, but he's never flat out evil (there is always morality to his naughtiness) and he's long been a poster boy for Generation Y (and the eternally young members of Generation X). With quotes like these, it's not really hard to see why...

10. "Aren't We Forgetting The True Meaning Of Christmas? The Birth Of Santa"
