'Hey, remember Tara and Heath? I wonder what they're up to at the minute? '

If you were one of the few people asking that particular question, then you're in luck: Swear devotes its entire run-time to catching up with Tara and (to a lesser extent) Heath.

Opening up on a beach, you'd be forgiven for wondering if you were watching the wrong show. But while the episode may seem more like an instalment of its progeny Fear TWD, we're quickly brought back into this world with the re-appearance of Tara (who last appeared way back in Season 6 episode 12!).

From there we're introduced to the Oceanside community, which is a considerable leap forward for the show at this stage, in terms of relation to the comics: while most of the show is in the early 100 volumes, this particular group aren't mentioned until issue 139, and haven't been seen properly yet. Whether that means any other elements will be brought forward too remains to be seen, but it's an intriguing move nonetheless.

Not that it really helps the episode, however. The Walking Dead's seventh season is really plodding towards the mid-season finale, and while not outright bad, Swear is another example of that.
